The Crankie Island live show is a fusion of live traditional Irish music and visual art. led by acclaimed singer Cathy Jordan, from the legendary Irish band “Dervish”

The show presents a selection of songs from the Crankie Island song project, where 32 folk songs were recorded and arranged, one from each of the 32 counties of Ireland. The songs explore themes of emigration, love, loss, folklore and mythology., As the five musicians perform, specially commissioned hand-drawn illustrations from leading Irish artists scroll across the background via video projection and use the vintage folk art storytelling construct known as a “crankie box”, to present each scrolling image. The result is a

unique and immersive theatrical experience, rooted in Irish tradition and folklore, accompanied by emotive contemporary visuals from some of Ireland’s top artists.
